The rank of the Sunnah and the Authenticity of Hadith
منزلۃ السنۃ و حجیۃ الحدیث
Course Overview
This thought-provoking short course invites you to explore the essential position of the Sunnah and the authenticity and authority of Hadith in Islam. Centered on the theme “The Hadith Question,” it examines why the Sunnah holds a foundational place alongside the Qur’an, how Hadith was preserved, and why the Qur’an cannot be fully understood without the Prophetic explanation and guidance. Through a classical yet contemporary, faith-oriented approach, the course opens space for serious emotional, spiritual, academic, and intellectual reflection on the relationship between revelation, the Qur’an, and the Sunnah.
The course also addresses important questions surrounding the rejection of Hadith and encourages a balanced understanding that avoids both Hadith rejection and uncritical extreme approaches. With the theme “20 Reasons to Believe, Understand & Honour the Sunnah,” learners are guided to strengthen their appreciation of the Sunnah and recognize that faith cannot be separated from the Prophetic model ﷺ.
By the end, you will:
- Understand the position and authority of the Sunnah alongside the Qur’an.
- Explore how Hadith was preserved and why its authenticity matters.
- Recognize the role of the Prophet ﷺ in explaining and demonstrating revelation.
- Reflect on the consequences of rejecting Hadith and the importance of a balanced approach.
- Develop a stronger intellectual, spiritual, and faith-based appreciation of the Sunnah.
