Arabic Grammar - Tasheelus Sarf |
دراسات متقدمۃ فی الصرف -اسماء اللفیف و الثلاثی المزید
Level 9

Course Overview

This advanced Arabic Grammar course focuses on deepening students’ understanding of Ilm-us-Sarf (Arabic morphology), with particular emphasis on Ism-ul-Fā‘il (اسم الفاعل) and Ism-ul-Maf‘ūl (اسم المفعول) of Lafīf-ul-Maqrūn (اللفيف المقرون), and the patterns of Thulāthī Mazīd Fīh (ثلاثي مزيد فيه). It takes learners beyond recognizing individual Qur’anic words to appreciating how their morphological structures convey precise meanings, subtle distinctions, and the eloquence of Divine expression.

Through a systematic exploration of verb patterns (Abwāb), learners will discover how additional letters influence meaning, intensity, causation, and reciprocity. By examining these patterns within Qur’anic contexts, students will develop a deeper understanding of why a particular verb form is used and how its structure contributes to the intended message. This course aims to bridge advanced morphological analysis with meaningful Qur’anic reflection, enabling learners to move beyond translation and appreciate the linguistic precision and wisdom of the Kalam of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

Purpose

  • To nurture a deeper love and appreciation for the Kalam of Allah سبحانه وتعالى through the study of advanced Arabic morphology and Qur’anic expression.
  • To strengthen understanding of Ism-ul-Fā‘il and Ism-ul-Maf‘ūl of Lafīf-ul-Maqrūn and the patterns of Thulāthī Mazīd Fīh.
  • To recognize how additional letters transform verb meanings, expressing intensity, causation, reciprocity, and other subtle distinctions.
  • To develop the ability to identify and analyze different verb patterns (Abwāb) and appreciate their precise usage in the Qur’an.
  • To enhance morphological analysis through Sarf (صرف), Ishtiqāq (اشتقاق), and Dalālah (دلالة), connecting word formation with meaning.
  • To empower students to reflect upon Qur’anic verses beyond literal translation, appreciating why Allah سبحانه وتعالى has chosen particular words and forms to convey His Divine Message.
