Course Overview

Explore Surah Al-Baqarah (Ayahs 8–16) through a structured, in-depth study of hypocrisy (Nifaq), its subtle manifestations, and the danger of allowing outward appearances to conceal the condition of the heart. This Level II course, titled Sharّ al-Nifaq — The Search for Hypocrisy Within, invites students to study the Qur’anic description of the hypocrites and, more importantly, to sincerely examine their own intentions, character, and actions rather than focusing on the faults of others.

Purpose of the Course:

  • To develop a deep understanding of Surah Al-Baqarah (Ayahs 8–16) in light of classical Tafseer and authentic scholarly sources
  • To examine the characteristics, attitudes, and subtle manifestations of Nifaq as described in the Qur’an
  • To encourage sincere self-examination rather than judging the faith, intentions, or shortcomings of others
  • To strengthen awareness of the relationship between belief, intentions, character, and actions
  • To cultivate sincerity, accountability, and consciousness of the condition of one’s heart
  • To develop the courage to recognise personal shortcomings and the wisdom and sincerity to work toward correcting them
